DESIGNED IN DENMARK - SEWN FROM UPCYCLED DEADSTOCK FABRICS

FOR OUR COLLECTIONS WE ONLY USE UPCYCLED DEADSTOCK FABRICS FOR OUR GARMENTS EXCEPT FROM OUR SLIP DRESSES MADE OF ORGANIC COTTON. THE REST OF THE GARMENT CONSISTS OF TRIM (BUTTONS, ZIPS AND LABELS) WHICH WE TRY OUR BEST TO SOURCE CONSCIOUSLY. OUR BUTTONS EITHER COME FROM COCONUT SHELLS OR WOOD FROM THE LOCAL STOCK MARKET IN  DELHI, INDIA.

SUSTAINABILITY EFFORT #1: DEADSTOCK FABRICS

DEADSTOCK FABRICS ARE THE RESIDUAL LEFTOVERS FROM (TYPICALLY LARGER) FASHION HOUSES' TEXTILE PRODUCTIONS THAT HAVE BEEN DISCARDED OR REJECTED AND THERFORE NOT USED TO MAKE GARMENTS. USUALLY THE REASONS COULD BE:

OVERPRODUCTION

EVERY SEASON, LARGER FASHION HOUSES BUY ABOUT 10% EXTRA FABRIC THAN THEY EXPECT THEY’LL NEED.  THEY PURPOSELY PURCHASE EXCESS FABRIC AS INSURANCE FOR MISTAKES. IT MAKES SENSE TO COVER BASES, BUT WHEN THESE SURPLUS FABRICS AREN’T USED FOR THEIR COLLECTION, THEY LAY ON FACTORY FLOORS AND EVENTUALLY MAKE THEIR WAY TO LANDFILL.

COLOR/PRINT REJECTION

SOMETIMES IS THE CASE THAT NEWLY PRODUCED FABRICS GET REJECTED BY BRANDS BECAUSE OF UNWANTED COLORS OR DETAILS THAT RESULT IN A LOT OF FABRICS JUST BEEN THROWN AWAY AS WASTE.

THE MARGINAL DISCARDED FABRIC STOCK WASTE IS WHAT IS CALLED ‘DEADSTOCK FABRICS’, AND BY RESCUING THESE FABRICS WE ARE ABLE TO PREVENT HARMFUL ENVIRONMENTAL EFFECTS TO THE LANDS AND THE WATERS OF OUR PLANET.THROUGHOUT EACH YEAR WE GO ON A FABRIC HUNT TO FIND DEADSTOCK FABRICS TO BE REPURPOSED FOR OUR COLLECTION. WE BUY THESE LEFTOVER DEADSTOCK FABRICS, EITHER DIRECTLY FROM THE BRANDS, FROM WAREHOUSES OR AT THE FACTORIES ITSELF WHERE A LOT OF BRANDS’ DEADSTOCK FABRICS ARE STORED.

WE’RE COMMITTED TO BEING A PART OF A MUCH NEEDED ENVIRONMENTAL SOLUTION  --
NOT A PART OF THE PROBLEM.

SUSTAINABILITY EFFORT #2: UPCYCLING

UPCYCLING IS THE PROCESS OF WHICH USED OBJECTS / BY-PRODUCTS / WASTE MATERIALS OR REJECTED MATERIALS ARE TRANSFORMED INTO NEW PRODUCTS OF BETTER QUALITY AND ENVIRONMENTAL VALUE. UPCYCLING IS ONE OF THE MOST SUSTAINABLE METHODS TO MAKE CLOTHES IN HARMONY WITH OUR EARTH. BY USING DEADSTOCK FABRICS THE POSITIVE ENVIRONMENTAL EFFECTS ARE:

NO WASTE

MINIMAL POLLUTION

AND NO OVERUSE OF NATURAL RESOURCES.

BY USING FABRIC THAT’S ALREADY OUT THERE, WE ELIMINATE HARMFUL STEPS IN THE PRODUCTION: AS WE DO’NT NEED TO PRODUCE NEW FABRIC AS NEW COTTON, VISCOSE, POLYESTER ETC, AND DON'T HAVE TO COLOR OUR FABRICS, THE PRODUCTION OF GARMENTS WILL NEITHER  BE RESOURCEFUL OR POLLUTING. WE SIMPLY NEED TO SEW WASTE INTO GARMENTS AND FINISH WITH WASHING AND IRONING.
